Fancy Florals

I just spent the week studying with #LauraOliver.  Because I felt inspired by her Florals.   As though I haven't already shown you countless florals that I already painted here.

During a workshop, I created the following Floral on my own arm:

Here is a closeup of it:

Then #Laura #Oliver was saying that we could add even more stuff ~ like dark swirls. dots, and starbursts.  Even though I felt pleased with my painting, I stuck on some of that stuff.  Still looks good, but I feel like I liked this particular painting better Without those additions.  In general:

But you can see by this closeup that Some spots looked better With those additions:

So I'm finding my way.  I figure that if I paint these enough, I will have a good feel for when to stop or when to add more.

The next day, I started right in on that.  When I get this down, it will make some of my Clients very happy.

Here  I approached my first face with what I learned from Laura.  I made a colored background with a Much Bigger Rose followed by Lots of extras (flowers, swirls, starbursts, glitter.......)

At the time,  I felt like it was too ungapotchka'd.  Until I saw the photos of the 3 attempts I had tried.  Then, after painting the following two faces, I decided that I would like to continue developing Laura's flower style ~ to make it my own.  .

But for this day, what I had done was to simplify.  I made the following design with less of everything.  Still a Colored Background, still a Much Bigger Rose than I would have usually made, still a lot of extras......   but less of them.

Until I saw them in the photographs, I had been feeling like this was the way to go.  Even Simpler.  So I made the following design.  Just a swipe of Color with the Larger Roses, a few petal dots and curly lines, and done.  (Note:  This model already had something painted on her mouth before I added my flowers.  I didn't paint that part on her mouth.  We were all practicing.)

Now that I see the photographs of my studies, it's clear that I just have to embrace the details.  Get comfortable with them.  I'm looking forward to designing some real glamorous designs this way.

Face Painting is for All Ages

Ah yes ~ Some of the Faces that I recently painted at the Home for the Aged.  Just as uplifting for them  and their Caretakers as for younger children.  Regardless of our Age, regardless of where we're spending our lives, we all want to have reasons to be 'tickled pink'.

Candy Cane

another day of dreaming up balloons.

as a child, I remember feeling attracted to the absolute Beauty of candy canes.  Then feeling so disappointed at the unexpected flavor.  (Peppermint was the original candy-cane flavor.)  But that beauty got me every time.  The red and white.  Gracefully swirling.

and here we can enjoy the Beauty without the disappointment.  Bigger.  Expanded with aaaair.
Beauty itself feels so good.

Face Painting at #Nickelodeon #HALO #Awards

I helped the people become part of the HALO Awards Experience.  Here are some of the faces that I painted with #Dayglo Colors as required by the people who hired me to paint their specific designs.  I thought I was going to miss painting my usually more detailed designs, but it turned out to feel
like so much fun to figure out different ways to apply the same 'star' to different people.  Nickelodeon had quite specific instructions as that What I was supposed to paint:

They were having so much fun with it.
Here is a little girl who just started spinning and dancing as soon as she was painted.
You can see her looking up.  Seeing that she will be able to make a difference in the world:

And I was intrigued by the people requested the Talk Bubbles.  Not much to paint, but it did make a statement.  Apparently, I was not there to show off my magnificent painting abilities.  Just there to enable the event to happen.  Positive activities are needed in this world.  I feel happy to be involved whenever I get the chance.
