It's so cold in January

My friend up in Canada emailed me about a heated plastic bubble in which he does Caricatures on the street. Now that I'm always working indoors because it is so cold in NY, I'm wishing I had a plastic bubble like his. I like meeting the people right on the street - people who would just be passing me by if I wasn't offering them anything.

I had a chance just now to look through pictures of some of the people I spent time with last summer - people I had painted. Here's a few of those beautiful people. These are the times of our lives:

A Fairy Tale

I really didn't plan it this way.
But I came across these pictures - all of which were done
at the same party - I pulled the first few off the top of
the pile, and I was so surprised. Looks so easily like
a simple Fairy Tale - as though it was all coordinated
for a skit instead of just the random requests that it was.











I'm wondering if it isn't somehow the way I paint that made the 'story' appear. But is sure looks coordinated.

Deja Vu

I painted this girl before. I just know it.



Walking around in a fog, I was very tired the day she stopped for this butterfly. I didn't even realize that I've seen her before. But now that I see the beautiful photo, I just know it. People are starting to look familiar. I like when they stop with me again and again. I remember if they remind me once or twice, and perhaps we'd get to talking....

T-Rex and The Hulk are both Green

I finally got a Mannekin-head that I like.
I can practice on it even if nobody's around,
and the paint washes off so quickly -
usually with just Water. I got it from
The Brittany Beauty School in Levittown
when they were finished with all the hair
on it (and then I got a real neat haircut
for myself too):
